Reflexology (Tracy Breuning)

Reflexology works on the principle that parts on the feet correspond with different zones in the body be they the immune system, hormones or digestion etc. Through these zones run meridian channels and if one of these channels becomes blocked then we may experience physical, emotional or mental health problems.  Reflexology works to rebalances the body’s energies and can thus help to promote well being.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (Fiona Crockford)

MLD is a healthy, natural and pain free way to help your body remove excess fluid, toxins and waste. It is an advanced form of massage treatment that is deeply relaxing (by calming the autonomic nervous system). All the work is done with dry hands, no oils, talc or machines are used. The rhythmical pumping technique works on increasing lymph flow and not arterial blood flow as many other massage techniques do. With repeated sessions of MLD your body will pump the lymph fluid more effectively. Each session will last approximately one hour. Where appropriate the therapist will work in conjunction with your medical practitioner.

MLD is both preventative and remedial and can enhance your well being. Furthermore, MLD:

  • Is deeply relaxing
  • Promotes the healing of fractures, torn ligaments, sprains and lessens pain.
  • Can improve many chronic conditions: sinusitus, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, acne and other skin conditions.
  • May strengthen the immune system as part of “detox” treatment.
  • Relieves fluid congestion: swollen ankles, tired puffy eyes and swollen legs due to pregnancy.
  • Is an effective component of the treatment and control of lymphoedema (which may occur after cancer treatment) and assists in conditions arising from venous insufficiency.
  • Promotes healing of wounds and burns and improves the appearance of old scars.
  • Minimises or reduces stretch marks.
  • Can be used to speed healing after cosmetic surgery
